In addition, the zoo serves as a home for more than 60 different types of mammals, 18 varieties of large and small reptiles, along with 81 different species of birds, all of which exist together within the boundaries of deep forests. Especially, the zoo operates a special white tiger breeding program for white tigers, while a captive breeding center for gharial or crocodiles. If this is not enough, you will find Indian crocodiles, Asiatic lions and large numbers of fishes, reptiles, and birds, as housing the entire zoo. Particularly, the zoo is famous for 34 different aquaria including freshwater fishes in wide varieties.

Dhauli Giri Shanti Stupa

Dhauli Giri Shanti Stupa or Peace Pagoda is a structure formed by the Buddhist religion in combination with Kalinga Nippon Buddha Sangh and Japan Buddha Sangh. The stupa belongs to the opposite side of Dhaulagiri Hill and it highlights the collaboration of India and Japan. Nipponzan Myohoji, the chief priest was responsible for the construction of the stupa. He arrived in India during the year 1930 from the holy place of Mount Minobu of Nichiren Sector and set up the domed structure. The stupa domes over the top of various mushroom structures and adorns with speaking panels of stone. An elephant procession as reclining Buddha, the famous Bodhi tree and Buddha footprints bearing the wheel or chakra adorn the stupa’s prime stone panels. These panels have also included a sleeping beauty fanned by various female attendants, horseback procession and renouncing war of Emperor Ashoka hand over his sword to the Lord Gautam Buddha at Dhauli Giri.
